World Tuberculosis Day

The announcement, in 1882, of the discovery of the bacterium that causes tuberculosis is commemorated. Although treatment and prevention exist today, the disease remains a global challenge: it hits hardest where there is poverty, discrimination, barriers to healthcare and a lack of early diagnosis. The date serves as a call to action: timely detection, real access to treatment, investment in research and a reduction in the stigma that still keeps many people away from medical care.

International Day for the Right to the Truth concerning Gross Human Rights Violations and for the Dignity of Victims

This day highlights a key principle: victims and their families have the right to know what happened and to have those responsible held accountable. The day also pays tribute to those who defended human rights and were attacked for doing so. Remembering these stories is not a symbolic gesture: it is a way of demanding that violence does not go unpunished and that society builds mechanisms for prevention, justice and reparation.

Week of Solidarity with the Peoples Struggling against Racism and Racial Discrimination (from 21 March)

During these days, the message is reinforced that racism and discrimination are not problems “of the past” or “of other places”. The week invites people to examine prejudices, support equality policies and listen to communities affected by exclusion, xenophobia and violence.

French Language and Francophonie Week (16–24 March)

It reaches its final stretch on 24 March, celebrating French as an international language and the cultural richness of the Francophonie. It usually focuses on cultural, educational and creative activities to promote multilingualism and dialogue between cultures.
