Activists block a Bus Turístic with water pistols in protest against mass tourism at the Sagrada Familia

This weekend, a group of activists blocked a Bus Turístic for several minutes in front of the Passion façade, spraying it with water from toy guns as a symbolic act of protest.

The demonstrators, participants in a European forum on tourism held at Can Batlló, unfurled a banner reading “Let’s put out the tourism fire” and placed protest stickers on the vehicle, surprising the tourists present. The action, which lasted about ten minutes, ended with the intervention of the Mossos d'Esquadra, who identified several participants but made no arrests.

The protest recalls the powerful image of water pistols used in the large anti-tourism demonstration of July 2024, which made headlines around the world. This action is part of the #trobadaSET2025 call, which urges international mobilisations on 15 June to denounce the impact of mass tourism on Mediterranean cities.
