The direct route between Barcelona and Mexico City returns until 2027
Barcelona once again has a direct air connection with Mexico City. From today, Aeroméxico operates six weekly flights between the two cities from Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport, a route that will be active until January 2027 and strengthens mobility between Europe and Latin America.
The reactivation of this link represents a significant change for those who travel for work or tourism, or maintain family ties between the two countries. In addition to the direct connection, passengers will be able to connect easily with more than 50 destinations within Mexico, expanding the options from Barcelona.
With this move, Aeroméxico consolidates its presence in Spain, where it already also operates in Madrid. The company is thus expanding its network between the two countries and strengthening routes to key cities such as Guadalajara and Monterrey, consolidating an increasingly solid air bridge.
During the official presentation, industry representatives highlighted the strategic value of this connection for the economy and tourism. The route responds to growing demand and seeks to facilitate both business travel and cultural exchange between Catalonia and Mexico.
The flights are operated with Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, designed for long-haul journeys with greater comfort. Their services include reclining seats in the premium cabin, onboard entertainment and WiFi connection.
In a context in which international connectivity increasingly defines the role of global cities, the restoration of this route reinforces Barcelona’s position as an intercontinental hub. Beyond tourism, this type of connection sets the pace of economic, cultural and personal relationships, bringing together two cities that share ever more exchanges and opportunities.
