Alcobendas will turn the M-603 into a green boulevard connecting with Madrid

The northern area of Madrid will gain a new urban space with the future Bulevar Madrid Norte de Alcobendas. The project will turn the former Fuencarral road (M-603) into a green corridor with gardens, play areas and a cycle lane that will directly link the municipality with the Madrid Nuevo Norte development. The plan envisages an investment of 11.1 million euros and a completion period of less than a year, starting in 2026. The 30-metre-wide route will include a large central promenade surrounded by pavements, more than a kilometre of cycle lane and pedestrian areas.

This will be joined by 21,300 square metres of green areas, a 960-square-metre children's playground, modern street furniture and a system to use rainwater to irrigate the gardens. The boulevard will link key points of everyday life, such as the Río Norte retail park, Carrefour, the Severo Ochoa and Virgen de la Paz secondary schools and the Cuestablanca housing development. With this project, Alcobendas aims to improve its urban quality and offer its residents more sustainable access to the capital.
