This Tuesday in Catalonia is marked by a maximum alert due to the heavy rainfall particularly affecting the counties of Girona. Civil Protection has issued an urgent EsAlert notice, urging the population to take extreme precautions in view of the high risk of flooding.
The authorities recommend avoiding any travel at least until 17:00. As a preventive measure, school activity has been suspended in Alt Empordà, Baix Empordà, Selva and Gironès, leaving thousands of pupils at home.
The storm has led to the closure of three main roads in the province of Girona: the C-252 between Vilabertran and Peralada, the GI-644 in Forallac and the GIV-6546 in Palafrugell, according to information provided by the Servei Català de Trànsit through its official channels.
In addition, the BV-4024 in Guardiola de Berguedà, in the province of Barcelona, has remained closed since Saturday due to snow accumulation, further complicating mobility in the region.
