Alexia Putellas will leave Barça after 14 years and an unrepeatable era

The news comes a few days after Barça ended the season by lifting another Women's Champions League trophy, with an emphatic victory over Lyon. Alexia therefore leaves with one final great European image: captain, champion and chosen as one of the tournament's decisive players.

Her time in Barcelona leaves huge figures. Putellas goes as the club's all-time top scorer, with more than 500 appearances and more than 230 goals. Along the way she won four Champions Leagues, ten league titles, several Copa de la Reina trophies and two Ballons d'Or, as well as becoming the most recognisable face of the growth of Spanish women's football.

UPD: Alexia Putellas's future is now confirmed. London City Lionesses officially announced her signing on 8 July, after the midfielder brought 14 seasons at Barça to an end. The two-time Ballon d'Or winner will wear number 11 for the London side, which will play its first official match of the 2026/27 season on Friday 4 September against Manchester United, in the opening round of the Women's Super League.
