Sant Andreu recovers one of its symbols with an investment of €300,000
Barcelona begins the long-awaited restoration of Capella dels Segadors, a building key to Sant Andreu’s memory that had shown signs of deterioration for years. The intervention, already under way, seeks to halt wear and guarantee its preservation.
The project has an investment of €300,000 contributed by the City Council, the Generalitat and the Archbishopric. The work focuses on repairing the roof and consolidating the external walls, urgent interventions to stabilise the structure.
Declared a Cultural Asset of National Interest in 2022, the chapel is one of the few remains of the former parish of Sant Andreu de Palomar. The rehabilitation includes restoring the vaults and a new wooden roof structure, respecting the building’s original configuration.
The intervention is part of a broader plan that provides for a second phase focused on the interior, promoted together with neighbourhood and cultural organisations. The aim is to return the space to the neighbourhood and reinforce its historic and educational value.
Beyond the works, the project reactivates life in its surroundings. The recovery of this emblematic point once again places heritage at the centre of the neighbourhood, generating activity and strengthening the connection between history and everyday life in Sant Andreu.
