How the Bachillerato scholarships in Madrid are changing for the 2025-2026 school year

The Community of Madrid has announced significant new developments in scholarships for baccalaureate students for the 2025–2026 academic year. The new model not only gives even greater priority to the student's financial circumstances, but also allows the aid to be retained for the following academic year if the same requirements are met. One key change is the points system: students with lower household income may receive up to 8 points in the assessment, while their academic record will contribute a maximum of 2 additional points. The aid is therefore focused chiefly on those facing the greatest financial barriers, while still taking academic effort into account. The scholarship is aimed at students at private schools who have completed compulsory secondary education (ESO) and enrol in any year of baccalaureate within the Spanish education system. Basic requirements still include not repeating an academic year and not exceeding the household per-capita income threshold set at 35,913 euros per year. Amounts vary according to income level: up to 3,750 euros for those whose per-capita income does not exceed 10,000 euros, and up to 2,000 euros for those above that figure but below the maximum threshold. Under no circumstances may the aid exceed the actual cost of the academic year. Although the application period has not yet opened, the broad outlines of the call are already known, allowing many families to prepare in advance and organise the necessary documentation. This new formula seeks to offer continuity to students with fewer resources, helping them complete their studies without the financial cost becoming an obstacle.
