How EMT Madrid buses will operate at Christmas and New Year 2025
If you travel around Madrid at Christmas, find out how EMT timetables will change, with special services and night frequencies to plan your journeys.
EMT Madrid is adjusting its timetables and services during the 2025 Christmas holidays.
On New Year’s Eve, 31 December, the daytime service will run a little later, with the last departures between 21:30 and 21:45. The night buses will start their routes at 22:30. During the early hours of 1 January, the frequency will be every 35 minutes until midnight and between 20 and 35 minutes until 7:00.
On 1 January 2026, New Year’s Day, daytime buses will operate again between 7:15 and 8:45, following the same pattern as at Christmas.
The Exprés Aeropuerto line also changes its timetables. On Christmas Eve, the last daytime departures will be at 20:30 from T4 and 20:45 from Atocha. The night service to the airport will start at 22:00 from Cibeles. On 31 December, the last daytime journey will be at 21:30 from T4 and 21:45 from Atocha, with the night service beginning at 22:30.
Throughout the Christmas period, EMT reinforces more than 20 daytime routes, including 1, 2, 6, 20, 31 and the special 001 and E1, to make travel easier through the centre and the busiest areas of Madrid.
