This is how public transport fares in Barcelona will look in 2026: moderate rises and discounts that remain
Barcelona will enter 2026 with public transport slightly more expensive, although without a sharp impact on the pockets of regular users.
The expected average increase is around 3.5%, but it will not be applied uniformly and will be accompanied by the extension of 50% discounts on the most widely used tickets.
The Metropolitan Transport Authority is finalising approval of the new fares, after the State, the Generalitat and the town councils confirmed their commitment to maintaining the discounts on the T-usual, T-jove and T-70/90. This is a significant financial effort—around €250 million—which explains why prices will rise slightly more than inflation.
The adjustment will be uneven. In Barcelona and zone 1, where most journeys are concentrated, the increase will be slightly higher. The monthly T-usual will cost €22.80, 80 cents more, while in two and three zones it will rise to €30.55 and €42.70 respectively. The T-jove will stand at €45.50 per quarter and the ten-journey T-casual will reach €13 in one zone.
The biggest increase will be seen in the single ticket, intended for occasional use and tourists: it will rise by 25 cents to €2.90.
The year will also bring a parallel new development: the single national ticket, priced at €60 (€30 for people under 26), valid on Rodalies and medium-distance services. It will not cover the metro or urban buses, but will coexist for months with the integrated system while its incorporation into T-mobilitat is studied.
