Catalonia publishes the first university allocation on 10 July

The consultation will take place online through the Generalitat’s university access portal. Each student must log in with their credentials, usually their DNI and password, to check the pre-enrolment result and find out which place they have been allocated.

The day will come after the publication of PAU grades, which have already allowed applicants to calculate their chances. Even so, the main question is not resolved until the first allocation: whether the final grade is enough to enter the desired degree course or whether they will have to wait for subsequent movements.

On that same 10 July, the entry grades for each degree course will also be published. This information will be especially important for those who do not get into their first choice, because it will make it possible to understand how far they are from the last admitted student and assess the possibilities in the following stages.

Those who obtain a place in this first allocation must complete enrolment between 14 and 17 July, inclusive. It is a short deadline and it is best not to leave it until the last moment, because failing to complete the process within the set dates may mean losing the allocated place.

For students who do not manage to get into the degree course they wanted, the process does not end there. The second allocation and subsequent reallocations make it possible to apply for places that become available because of withdrawals, enrolment changes or movements at other universities.

The key will be to check every official communication carefully and follow the steps within the timetable. In these processes, a decision made late or a forgotten procedure can have important consequences, even when the grade still allows a student to compete for a place.

University pre-enrolment in Catalonia works centrally. Students rank their preferences for degree courses and universities, and the system allocates places according to the admission grade and demand for each qualification.

The most sought-after degree courses tend to have higher entry grades, but these change every year. They depend on the number of places, how many students apply for that degree course and the grades of those competing to get in, so it is best not to take anything for granted until the official allocation is seen.

For many families, 10 July will be a morning of nerves, refreshing screens and quick decisions. For some students it will mean starting to prepare enrolment; for others, reorganising preferences and waiting for a new opportunity.

The important thing will be not to remain inactive after checking the result. Logging in, enrolling if appropriate, checking entry grades and keeping an eye on the following allocations can make the difference between losing a place and finally finding the path to university.
