Babylon launches a flamenco-jazz series with the piano as its great star

Babylon kicks off its eagerly awaited flamenco-jazz series, in which the piano becomes the focus of all attention. Four major names in the genre, Alex Conde, Chano Domínguez, Pedro Ojesto and Chico Pérez, head a programme that promises intense emotions on Madrid's music scene.

On Saturday 17 January, Valencian pianist Alex Conde presents his latest work, 'El Trío' (2025), a demonstration of his versatility and mastery of the fusion of flamenco and jazz. Conde, trained in Valencia, Boston and New York, is regarded as a leading figure in the evolution of flamenco-jazz and founder of the Piano Flamenco Institute in New York.

Saturday 24 January will be the turn of Chano Domínguez Trío. Domínguez, one of the most sought-after musicians in Spanish music, stands out for his blend of Hispanic and African-American roots. He will be joined by Horacio Fumero on double bass and David Xirgu on drums, forming a trio that explores tangos, bulerías and soleás with a jazz structure.

On Sunday 25 January, Pedro Ojesto and his Flamenco Jazz Company, together with Román Filiu, will take to the stage. Ojesto, known for his creativity and his role as a pianist in both jazz and flamenco, will present a repertoire reflecting all his artistic facets and his experience in projects such as Guadiana & Pedro Ojesto and Pedro Ojesto Trío.

The series closes on Thursday 29 January with Chico Pérez Trío. Pérez, a pianist and composer recognised for his unique style and ability to move audiences, arrives after a tour of Miami and appearances at the country's most prestigious flamenco and jazz festivals.
