Barcelona’s 2026 work calendar is now official and brings a unique opportunity: with only four days of holiday leave, it will be possible to get up to eight long weekends throughout the year. The Departament d’Empresa i Treball and the City Council have ratified the 14 public holidays that will set the city’s rhythm.

Barcelona will have 12 regional public holidays and two local ones, allowing Barcelona residents to enjoy several long weekends. The year gets off to a strong start with Thursday 1 January (New Year’s Day) and Tuesday 6 January (Epiphany). Easter Week arrives with Good Friday (3 April) and Easter Monday (6 April), giving a four-day break without needing to request holiday leave.

Friday 1 May (Labour Day) and Monday 25 May (Second Easter) join the list, alongside Wednesday 24 June (Sant Joan) and Saturday 15 August (Assumption). The final stretch of the year includes Friday 11 September (National Day of Catalonia), Thursday 24 September (La Mercè), Monday 12 October (National Day of Spain), Tuesday 8 December (Immaculate Conception), Friday 25 December (Christmas Day) and Saturday 26 December (Sant Esteve).
