Barcelona Half Marathon 2027 opens registration and targets another historic record
Barcelona is already warming up for one of Europe's most popular races. Hyundai Barcelona Half Marathon by Brooks 2027 has officially opened registration for its 37th edition, to be held on 14 February 2027. Organisers want to exceed the 40,000-runner mark for the first time and turn the city once again into a huge open-air circuit.
For one weekend, the city will once again change its pace. Full hotels, terraces occupied from early in the morning and thousands of people warming up in the streets are already part of a familiar scene whenever this race arrives. The atmosphere is especially noticeable in areas such as Arc de Triomf, the seafront or Poblenou, where much of the route is concentrated.
The start will be located on Passeig de Picasso and the circuit will pass through some of Barcelona's most recognisable places. Runners will go along Passeig de Colón, Paral·lel, Gran Via, Passeig de Sant Joan, Diagonal and several streets in Sant Martí before facing the final stretch by the sea. The finish line will once again be set up on Passeig de Pujades.
The event will also retain one of its most highly valued features: constant entertainment along the route. There will be more than 25 points with live music, DJs and performances spread across different neighbourhoods to accompany participants throughout the 21 kilometres. That blend of sport and street atmosphere is part of what has made the race such a popular event both inside and outside Spain.
Registration begins with several options. The most basic option costs 50 euros, while the Race Experience and Full Experience categories include additional services and benefits for those seeking a more complete experience throughout the weekend. There will also be discounts for participants registered for the Zürich Maratón Barcelona 2027, scheduled a month later.
When the race ends, activity continues at Poble Espanyol. PaRUNda by Brooks will return as the official post-finish party, with DJ sets, concerts and food spaces where runners and companions usually extend the day well into the afternoon.
Over the years, the Media Maratón de Barcelona has ceased to be only a sporting competition. For many international runners, it is also a different way to discover the city: running between the historic centre, the seafront neighbourhoods and some of Barcelona's most recognisable avenues, on a morning that ends up becoming almost a collective celebration.
