Barcelona activates a green pass at Park Güell so only registered residents enter free

Barcelona City Council has activated a new system so that only people registered as residents in the city can enter Park Güell free of charge. The measure replaces free access through Gaudir Més with a new “green pass” linked to the municipal register and seeks to close off the fraudulent use some visitors made of the previous system.

The change comes at a particularly sensitive time for one of the city's spaces under the greatest pressure from tourism. According to coverage published this 26 March, the new pass will make it possible to prove residence in Barcelona directly and will prevent tourists from entering free of charge during time slots reserved for residents.
