Barcelona swaps clouds for sunshine this weekend: temperatures to reach 29 degrees on Sunday

Aemet forecasts a low of around 20 ºC and a high close to 28 ºC for Saturday. The first half of the day will see cloudy skies and a 60% chance of rain, dropping to about 30% in the afternoon. Winds will be light from the south.

This does not mean it will rain all day. The forecast itself mentions only light precipitation, and Meteocat’s automatic models are actually drier: for Barcelona, they do not predict any significant accumulation on Saturday, though they do expect increased cloud cover, especially from midday into the afternoon.

The difference between the two agencies suggests that rain cannot be taken for granted. For those with outdoor plans, Saturday will simply be the most uncertain day of the weekend, with more clouds and the possibility of an occasional shower, but no significant rainfall expected over the city at this stage.

On Sunday, the outlook changes clearly. Aemet forecasts clear skies all day, a 0% chance of rain, and temperatures ranging from around 20 ºC to a high of 29 ºC. Meteocat shows a very similar trend, with sunshine from early morning and temperatures around 27 ºC for much of the afternoon.

Sunday will therefore be the best day for beaches, terraces, parks, and outdoor activities. The weather will remain fully summery in mid-September, although nights will be milder than during the heatwaves recorded this summer.

The change will not end on Sunday either. Current forecasts point to an even warmer start to the week: Aemet puts Monday’s high at around 32 ºC in Barcelona, with mostly clear skies and no significant rainfall.

For now, there is no adverse weather scenario for Barcelona this weekend. The main uncertainty is the possibility of light rain on Saturday; Sunday, by contrast, has a much more stable, sunny, and warm forecast.
