Barcelona turns children's cinema into a space for reflecting on the family

During March, Cinemes Girona offers a film series for children focused on the right to a family. The initiative seeks to encourage debate and reflection in schools and families. Eight films and educational activities will fill the programme. A unique opportunity to discover the value of the family environment in childhood.

This March, families and schools in Barcelona have a special appointment at Cinemes Girona. The Cicle de Cinema dels Drets dels Infants turns the programme into an educational tool, inviting children and teenagers to explore the meaning of the right to a family through cinema.

The programme, promoted by the Departament de Promoció de la Infància, proposes twenty sessions spread across different educational levels and family audiences. Eight carefully selected films, such as «El meu veí Totoro», «Dúnia i l’Eco del Tambor» and «La meva mare és un goril·la», address from different perspectives the importance of growing up in a safe and affectionate family environment.

The series, under the slogan «Barcelona, ciutat de famílies», seeks to encourage young people to reflect on what it means to have a family and how it influences their personal development. Screenings are accompanied by activities and debates designed to foster critical thinking, solidarity and respect in the classroom and at home.

Teachers have a teaching guide with proposals and resources for working on the themes addressed in the films. School bookings are managed through the Programa d’Activitats Escolars, while family and teenage sessions can be booked on the series website, where the full programme can also be found.
