Barcelona rolls out more than 1,500 activities as World Capital of Architecture 2026
Barcelona throws itself into the World Capital of Architecture 2026 with a programme that changes the way the city is explored. More than 1,500 activities spread across all districts invite people to rediscover everyday spaces from another perspective.
The centrepiece of this programme is Casa de l’Arquitectura, a new cultural space that has already become a landmark. In just a few weeks, it has attracted thousands of visitors, driven by exhibitions and a large model of the city.
The programme goes beyond museums. Workshops, routes, debates and family activities extend through markets, squares and libraries, bringing architecture into residents’ everyday lives.
One of the key elements is decentralisation. Each month, a district takes centre stage, making it possible to spread activity around and shine a light on local realities that often remain outside the cultural circuit.
In addition, the programme connects with the whole territory. Municipalities and architecture schools in Catalonia are joining in, broadening the event’s reach and diversifying perspectives on urban planning.
This rollout makes architecture an accessible outing. It makes it possible to discover neighbourhoods, understand how the city is changing and take part in free activities, integrating culture into the daily routines of people who live in or move around Barcelona.
