Barcelona welcomes summer with more accessible beaches designed for everyone

This year's major new feature is the improvement to the bathing assistance service for people with reduced mobility, which expands facilities, modernises equipment and makes the coastline an even more inclusive place. A new shade pergola at Nova Icària, a fully adapted changing room in Barceloneta and a new assistance point on Bogatell beach are just some of the additions.

But the improvements do not stop on the sand. The season comes with more lifeguards, more cleaning, better waste management, refurbished public toilets and spaces designed to enjoy the sea in optimal conditions. All this without forgetting smoke-free beaches, public information points and digital panels with real-time data on sea conditions and water quality.

From 12 April to 5 October, Barcelona turns its beaches into spaces of wellbeing, sustainability and coexistence. Because in this city, summer does not begin only when the heat arrives: it begins when the sea is ready for everyone.
