Barcelona bids farewell to 2025 with drones, music by Marc Parrot and the return of the Font Màgica

Barcelona is preparing to bid farewell to 2025 with a New Year's Eve spectacle that promises to be unforgettable. The event, to be held on 31 December on Reina Maria Cristina Avenue, is committed to innovation and local talent, blending tradition and technology in a celebration that marks the arrival of 2026.

This year's major new feature is the participation of Barcelona musician Marc Parrot, who takes on the musical and creative direction of the show. Parrot has composed an original 20-minute piece that blends traditional Catalan instruments with electronic sounds, creating a unique sonic identity. This work accompanies a staging centred on the four elements: air, water, earth and fire.

Production is in the hands of the renowned French company Groupe F, a specialist in large-scale formats. The spectacle will integrate music, drones, audiovisual technology and pyrotechnics, under the direction of Christophe Berthonneau and with pyrotechnic design by Rodrigo Oyarzo-Contador. A choreography of 500 drones, 1,400 kg of pyrotechnic material and effects reaching 180 metres in height are expected, all synchronised with more than 25,000 technical commands.

One of the most eagerly awaited moments will be the return of the Font Màgica de Montjuïc, which is operating again after years of drought. The fountain will be integrated into the visual narrative with a water choreography designed especially for the occasion, interacting with drones, music and lights in a total spectacle.

The free event will begin at 22:00 with a special Font Màgica show that will lead into the central spectacle near midnight. Reina Maria Cristina Avenue will be transformed into a great open stage to welcome 2026 with a large-scale visual and sound proposal.

Marc Parrot's soundtrack is structured in four parts, each inspired by a natural element. Air combines flabiol, tenora and treble voices with electronic harmonies, creating an ethereal atmosphere. Water introduces guitar and rhythms that evoke the habanera and Catalan rumba, reflecting cultural mixing and the connection with the sea. Earth provides depth with fiscorns and sardana rhythms, blended with rumba before the chimes. Fire closes with percussion, grallas and electronic music in a festive explosion that invites people to dance and celebrate.

To bring this composition to life, Parrot has enlisted outstanding musicians such as Cobla Meravella, Roger Andorrà, Guillem Ballaz, Albert Garcia and Carlos Manzanares. Together they have recorded the soundtrack that will accompany the arrival of the new year in Barcelona, reinforcing the link between tradition and modernity.

Marc Parrot, with more than thirty years of career behind him, is known for his creativity and his ability to blend styles. His experience and global vision have been key to leading the creative and musical direction of this event.

In the visual and pyrotechnic part, Groupe F brings its international experience, with Christophe Berthonneau at the helm and Rodrigo Oyarzo-Contador responsible for the pyrotechnic design. Oyarzo-Contador, born in Barcelona in 1975, has built a solid career in fire and music spectacles around the world, and has been part of Groupe F since 2018.

The French company has been responsible for shows at iconic locations such as the Torre Eiffel, the Burj Khalifa and the Taipei 101, as well as at Olympic ceremonies and major international openings. Its ability to integrate multidisciplinary teams and create original projects guarantees that the Nochevieja de Barcelona 2025 will be a unique and memorable experience.
