Barcelona has taken a firm step in the fight against visual clutter on its streets. Over the last nine months, the City Council has removed 60,000 posters and stickers from different elements of public space, as part of the Pla Endreça. This initiative has covered everything from façades and street furniture to signs, traffic lights and lampposts.

The operation, carried out between March and December 2025, has involved 19 people facing difficulties entering the labour market, integrated through Barcelona Activa. Thanks to their work, an average of 1,800 interventions have been carried out each week, equivalent to more than 250 items removed every day. Downpipes have been the most affected points, with almost 19,000 interventions.

The cleaning campaign has been deployed in the city's ten districts, although the effort has been concentrated particularly in the areas with the greatest footfall. Eixample, Ciutat Vella and Gràcia top the list of districts where the most action has been taken.

Before each intervention, civic officers inspected the areas to identify those responsible for uncivil behaviour and apply the corresponding penalties. In addition, the City Council has responded to requests from residents, prioritising cleaning in busy spaces during events such as the Festes de la Mercè and Christmas celebrations.
