Barcelona sweetens Sant Joan: Morreig and Natcha, winners of the best cocas of 2025

Barcelona is once again crowned Sant Joan's pastry capital.

The seventh edition of the prestigious Concurs de Coques de Sant Joan, held at the Antiga Fàbrica Estrella Damm, has awarded two Barcelona establishments for their exquisite creations. Morreig pastry shop (25 Verdi Street) has been recognised for making the best traditional fruit and pine nut coca, while Natcha pastry shop (45 Sarrià Avenue) has won over the jury with the year’s best creative coca.

The competition brought together the leading talents of Catalan baking and pastry-making, who presented a total of 270 cocas in five different categories. The winners were chosen through blind tasting, assessing aspects such as aroma, texture, brioche baking and originality in the case of the most innovative entries.

In the other categories, the prizes went beyond the capital: the best cream coca is from Fleca Rovira (Santa Agnès de Malanyanes), the llardons coca can be found at El Racó pastry shop (Granollers), and the chocolate one at Fleca de Folgueroles.

The event reaffirms the art of pastry-making as an essential part of Catalan culture, with creations that combine tradition, innovation and plenty of flavour.
