Barcelona launches a circular bus for getting around Les Corts on match days
Match days at Spotify Camp Nou will bring a new option for getting around Les Corts from this week. On Thursday, 27 August, Barcelona will launch a circular bus route that will operate only when Barça play at home and will keep several points in the district connected despite the usual traffic closures.
The service will debut to coincide with Barça-Athletic Club, scheduled for 21:00. The buses will begin running two hours before the match, at around 19:00, and will continue during the match and until an hour and a half after it ends.
The planned frequency will be approximately 15 minutes. Completing the full circuit will take around 32 minutes under normal conditions, although TMB warns that both journey time and intervals may change when the concentration of supporters complicates traffic around the stadium.
The route will be around six kilometres long and will begin and end at Camí de Torre Melina, next to the Ernest Lluch interchange. From there it will pass along the Collblanc road, Cardenal Reig, Sant Ramon Nonat, Avenida de Madrid, Gran Via de Carles III, Diagonal, Doctor Marañón and Avenida de Xile before closing the circle again.
The location makes it possible to connect with different points in Les Corts and maintain links with the usual public-transport network. The measure responds especially to residents' complaints about the difficulty of getting around when streets near Camp Nou are subject to restrictions for security reasons and because of the mass arrival of supporters.
Stops related to the new service will have specific signage, both fixed and dynamic, and information on timetables, routes and possible disruptions will be available through TMB's usual channels. On match days, regular lines that pass through the area around the stadium may also be diverted.
There will also be another change that is less visible to users. From 27 August, the Barça and visiting-team coaches will enter via the X de Travessera de les Corts access and will do so in the opposite direction from usual. This will prevent them from passing through Arizala, one of the streets where the teams' vehicle movements caused the greatest inconvenience.
The new bus aims to ensure that a football night does not also force the neighbourhood's everyday mobility to come to a halt. While tens of thousands of supporters head to Camp Nou, residents will have a circular route to get around the restricted perimeter and continue moving between Collblanc, Ernest Lluch, Diagonal and the interior of Les Corts.
