15 municipalities in Barcelona launch a charity circuit against cancer
Barcelona and its province are preparing a new charity circuit that will cover 15 municipalities during 2026. Under the name “Km contra el cáncer”, the initiative seeks to combine sport and fundraising to support research and oncology patients.
The project, promoted by L’Associació Contra el Càncer a Barcelona, plans to bring together more than 14,000 participants across popular races and walks. The calendar begins in April and will run until November, with events spread across different parts of the territory.
One of the highlighted events will be the race at the Port de Barcelona on 31 May, which will serve as one of the central moments of the circuit. Throughout the year, each municipality will offer adapted routes, with both competitive options and options open to all audiences.
The experience seeks to go beyond sport. Race bibs will include personalised messages and spaces for remembrance will be made available at each event. In addition, those who take part in several races will be able to complete a “passport” that recognises their commitment to the circuit.
The final objective is twofold: to raise funds and build community around a common cause. Part of the income will go to research, prevention and direct support for patients and families.
The circuit will bring sporting and solidarity activities to different places in the area, with events accessible to all ages. It will also generate more local activity at each event, affecting neighbourhood life during weekends. In addition, it offers a direct way to take part in a common cause without leaving the local area, combining leisure, health and solidarity. The initiative turns sport into a collective tool with real impact.
