Barcelona launches EstarB, the new emotional refuge for young people and adolescents
Barcelona takes a decisive step in mental-health support for young people with the creation of EstarB, a pioneering service aspiring to become a major emotional support point for young people and adolescents aged 12 to 25.
The new programme brings together the Aquí t’escoltem and Konsulta’m projects, creating a single point of contact for psychological and educational support that expands opening hours, resources and territorial reach. With 304 hours of support per week, 40% more than before, and 21 walk-in locations open across every district, EstarB offers support that is more accessible, humane and personalised.
Its team — made up of psychologists and social educators — will work alongside the Centros de Salud Mental Infantil y Juvenil (CSMIJ) to detect and address any sign of distress at an early stage. From 2026, community emotional wellbeing coordinators (RBEC) will join, linking the service to the public health network.
EstarB was created with a clear philosophy: that no young person should feel alone in the face of anxiety, sadness or everyday pressure. Beyond therapy, it seeks to offer tools, spaces of trust and active listening in order to build resilience and collective wellbeing.
With this initiative, Barcelona reinforces its leadership in mental health and youth policies, complying with the 2023–2030 Mental Health Plan and the Adolescence and Youth Plan. A project with a name that says it all: being well.
