Barcelona launches an express plan to restore calm in Sant Antoni
The City Council has launched an emergency plan in Sant Antoni, promising that changes will be felt now rather than in months. The aim is to halt the deterioration of public space and restore the coexistence demanded by residents and businesses.
The roadmap, promoted by the Distrito del Eixample and coordinated with Guardia Urbana and Mossos d’Esquadra, stems from meetings with the main neighbourhood organisations, from residents’ associations to Mercat de Sant Antoni.
The measures include more foot patrols, reinforced cleaning morning and afternoon around waste containers, and action against antisocial behaviour. The plan also addresses more complex challenges, such as drug use or sleeping on public roads, with a social component to support people in vulnerable situations.
The municipal commitment is to act quickly and visibly so that Sant Antoni recovers safer, cleaner and more liveable streets in the shortest possible time.
