Barcelona loses its almost spring-like feel as temperatures drop ahead of Easter Week
Barcelona will move into cooler days from this Thursday, with maximum temperatures expected at around 14–17 ºC, while wind and snow take centre stage in other parts of Catalonia.

The drop in temperatures forecast for the coming days will break the almost spring-like conditions that had settled across much of Spain. After Therese passed through the Canary Islands, attention now shifts to the fall in temperatures that will be noticeable from this Thursday, 26 March, with stronger winds in the north-east, warnings in mountain areas and cooler weather in Catalonia too.
In Barcelona, the change does not point to an extreme episode, but it does mean a clear reduction in temperatures compared with the start of the week. The forecast places the coming days in a range of highs between 14 and 17 ºC and lows between 7 and 9 ºC, with cloudy intervals and no scenario of severe weather in the city.
Where the shift may be felt more is in areas exposed to the wind and in mountain areas. AEMET is maintaining warnings for Thursday in Catalonia, with very strong gusts in southern Tarragona and snow warnings in the Catalan Pyrenees, where the snow level may be around 1,200 or 1,300 metres and moderate frosts may persist at high elevations.
The contrast comes just after the Therese episode, which activated a special AEMET warning for the Canary Islands due to heavy rain, wind and rough seas, with accumulations that could exceed 300 mm in some parts of the western islands and Gran Canaria.
Looking ahead to Semana Santa, the message still calls for caution. Both the forecasts collected by AEMET and the analysis published by Roberto Brasero suggest that a more anticyclonic and stable scenario is gaining weight, although it is still too early to settle on a firm forecast for the main days.
