Barcelona closes traffic in Montjuïc this Sunday for the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya
Barcelona will alter mobility this Sunday 29 March for the final stage of the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya. There will be traffic closures, bus diversions and parking restrictions around Montjuïc from early morning, so journeys should be planned in advance.
The stage will start at 11:50 and finish at around 14:05, with the start and finish in Montjuïc. During that time, traffic will be completely restricted along the route, which includes key points such as Plaça Espanya and stretches of Gran Via.
The final circuit will take place on Montjuïc hill, where the cyclists will complete seven laps on a demanding route with climbs and descents. It is one of the most spectacular moments of the race and attracts much of the public's attention.
Public transport will also be affected. Several bus routes will alter their course from 6:30 and especially between 11:00 and 14:30, with diversions on main routes linking the centre to the southern area of the city.
As for parking, there will be restrictions from Saturday afternoon on different streets in Montjuïc and around Plaça Espanya, which will remain in place until Sunday afternoon in some areas.
Beyond the specific complications, the day transforms the city's usual rhythm.
