On Sunday 15 March, the 2026 Barcelona Marathon will transform the city. Thousands of runners will block key streets from early morning. Public transport and parking will face significant disruption. Find out how it will affect you.

This Sunday, 15 March, the 2026 Barcelona Marathon will bring the city to a standstill from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm, with 32,000 runners. The new route crosses Eixample, Sant Martí and the seafront, starting on Passeig de Gràcia (between Gran Via and Plaça Catalunya) and finishing beneath the Arc de Triomf (Passeig de Lluís Companys).

Key road closures from 5 am:

Plaça Catalunya (all carriageways)

Ronda Universitat (Rambla Catalunya–Balmes)

Plaça Urquinaona (central and mountain-side)

Ronda Sant Pere (Pau Claris–Plaça Catalunya)

No parking (move your car to avoid it being towed):

From Friday 13 at 9 pm: Viladomat, Mallorca, Sepúlveda, Diagonal (sections), Passeig de Gràcia (side roads and central carriageway from Plaça Catalunya)

Saturday and Sunday: more streets in Eixample, Ciutat Vella, Born, Sant Martí and the finish area (until 6 pm)

Public transport changes:

47 bus routes will alter their routes and timetables (6:30 am–3:30 pm)

Metro reinforces L1, L2, L3 and L4

Tram T4, T5 and T6 suspended between Glòries and Ciutadella from 7:45 am (gradual restoration in the afternoon)

Official recommendation: plan ahead, prioritise the metro and check City Council and TMB channels to avoid surprises.

The Barcelona Marathon, one of Europe’s major sporting events, attracts thousands of international runners and turns the city into a spectacle of effort and celebration. An epic day that puts mobility to the test, but also shows Barcelona’s vibrant pulse.
