Barcelona dives into summer: the municipal outdoor pools open their doors
The heat is starting to build and Barcelona is responding with one of its most refreshing options: the gradual opening of the 14 municipal outdoor pools spread across the city.
This June, without drought restrictions, these emblematic spaces will once again be filled with swims, laughter and towels in the sun.
From Montjuïc to Sant Martí, via Gràcia or Horta-Guinardó, municipal sports centres are preparing their facilities to welcome residents and visitors with green areas, children's areas, guaranteed accessibility and a programme designed to make the most of the urban summer.
Facilities such as the Piscinas Bernat Picornell, the Llac de la Creueta del Coll and the Centre Esportiu Can Dragó will be among the first to reopen, with all services ready for days of rest, sport or switching off without leaving the city.
The schedule envisages all swimming pools being fully operational by the week of Sant Joan, thus marking the official start of a season in which water will once again be the best antidote to Barcelona's heat.
