Barcelona transforms Camí de Mare de Déu de Lorda into a new green lung
The Ayuntamiento is promoting the renewal of Camí and avenida Mare de Déu de Lorda. The project will connect Collserola with the city and improve accessibility. Works will begin at the end of 2026 and last a year. More than 3 million euros will be invested.
Barcelona City Council has given the green light to the urbanisation project that will link the Collserola mountain range with the city in Sarrià-Sant Gervasi. The intervention, covering more than 10,800 m², will transform Camí and Mare de Déu de Lorda Avenue from Betània Patmos school to Parc del Castell de l’Oreneta.
The main points of the plan:
A new pedestrian route surrounded by native vegetation (new Collserola trees and shrubs).
Reshaping of slopes to make it accessible to everyone.
A sauló path on the upper section that connects with paths in the natural park.
Restoration of a former quarry as a retention basin to prevent flooding, with a vegetated ditch.
Low-energy LED lighting, modern street furniture, large litter bins and a complete renewal of drainage and sewerage, with permeable flowerbeds.
Work will begin in the final quarter of 2026 and will last approximately one year.
This project turns a poorly connected area into a genuine green corridor that brings Collserola closer to the city, improves pedestrian and cycling mobility, increases biodiversity and reduces flood risks. For residents of Sarrià-Sant Gervasi, it means more nature accessible on foot, better air quality, safe walking spaces and a gentler transition between city and mountain — a change that improves daily life, health and enjoyment of the neighbourhood in one of Barcelona’s most residential and greenest areas.
