Free bikes and buses in Madrid: sustainable mobility at no cost on 22 and 23 April

Madrid is getting on board the sustainability train — or rather, the bus and the electric bike. To mark World Earth Day, the capital will offer free travel on EMT buses and BiciMAD electric bicycles on 22 and 23 April, an initiative aimed at encouraging clean mobility and reducing the city's carbon footprint. During those 48 hours, any user will be able to board municipal buses without having to pay a fare. In addition, the BiciMAD service — including the free-floating electric-bike system and fixed stations — will also be free, making sustainable journeys throughout the city easier. This action is part of Madrid City Council's "Muévete en Verde" campaign, which aims to raise awareness of the environmental impact of transport and encourage residents to adopt more responsible habits. An excellent excuse to leave the car at home, try a different way of getting around and, while at it, rediscover the city from another angle. So if you were planning to get around Madrid on those days, do it without polluting... and without paying.
