Biophest returns to Madrid with activities connecting art and nature
Matadero Madrid is once again becoming one of the city’s most active cultural hubs with the return of Biophest. Over six days, the festival offers more than 30 activities combining art and nature, with offerings designed for all audiences.
The programme includes film, workshops, tours, and concerts. At Cineteca Madrid, documentaries will be screened focusing on the relationship between people and the natural environment, while spaces like Nave Una will host art installations and sensory experiences.
The festival also encourages participation. There will be workshops for children and adults, ranging from creative activities to sessions related to the plant world. In addition, guided tours are organised around the Manzanares river area and the greenhouse at the Palacio de Cristal de Arganzuela.
Talks round out the experience, with experts in neuroscience, philosophy, or ecology discussing how nature influences wellbeing and ways of thinking. All sessions are free to attend.
At night, music takes centre stage with concerts that blend technology and nature, such as projects that turn plant data into live sound or sessions exploring more experimental soundscapes.
Biophest is establishing itself as a distinctive option on Madrid’s cultural calendar, especially for those looking for something out of the ordinary without leaving the city.
