Brad Pitt takes a UFO house from Girona to California: a retrofuturist gem from 1969

This time, the actor has acquired a genuine architectural rarity: a UFO-shaped micro-home that until recently stood among the vineyards of the Alt Empordà. A retro-futurist capsule designed in 1969 which, dismantled piece by piece, has already crossed the Atlantic to join his private collection in California.

The home, known as Casa Xasteros, is the work of Greek architect Nikolaos Xasteros and a forgotten icon of 20th-century experimental architecture. With only 45 square metres, its fibreglass structure and curved lines recall a spaceship from a 1970s science-fiction film. Compact interior, bold design and a cult aura: exactly the kind of object that Pitt, a great architecture enthusiast, goes crazy for.

The operation was kept secret for months. It was French gallery owner Clément Cividino who brought it from Athens to Sant Climent Sescebes to exhibit it at the Terra Remota winery. What he did not expect was that, amid discreet visits, one of the world's most famous actors would fall in love with this very Martian piece.

Now, the UFO house rests on Californian soil, among the actor's other eccentricities. A craft from the past travelling into the future, with a cinema passport.
