Barcelona to cut and reorganise the ronda del Guinardó from 30 March due to L9 works

Those who regularly travel on the ronda del Guinardó will notice major changes from Monday 30 March. Progress on works at the L9 metro’s Guinardó-Sant Pau station will require traffic to be reorganised on this key stretch of the district, affecting drivers, public-transport users and cyclists alike.
The Generalitat’s Departament de Territori has announced that, in order to continue construction of the station and its interior structure, it will be necessary to close traffic in the Llobregat direction from Sunday 29 March. This measure will make it possible to advance the completion of the central section of the L9/L10, one of the city’s most eagerly awaited infrastructures.
From Monday, only two lanes will remain available in the Llobregat direction: one shared by vehicles and buses, and another reserved for bicycles, both alongside the lanes in the Besòs direction. In addition, H6, V21 and 191 bus services will alter their routes and stops to adapt to the new situation, with alternative itineraries already planned.
The Guinardó-Hospital de Sant Pau station is being built next to the new Hospital de Sant Pau and Sant Quintí street, and will become an important interchange with the L4. The station shaft, already excavated, reaches a depth of 76 metres. The current civil-engineering phase is expected to finish in summer, when architectural and installation work will begin.
The L9/L10 metro represents one of Barcelona’s most ambitious mobility projects. Its central section, still under construction, will connect neighbourhoods and make travel between key areas of the city easier. The Guinardó-Hospital de Sant Pau station, owing to its strategic location, will strengthen intermodality and improve accessibility to the hospital and residential area of Guinardó.
