Can Deu extends its opening hours and backs nightlife culture in Les Corts

The Centre Cívic Can Deu, in the heart of Les Corts, is preparing to transform Barcelona’s nights with an ambitious pilot project. From July 2026 to December 2027, the centre will extend its opening hours and offer a varied programme of night-time cultural activities, responding to demand for more accessible and safe leisure alternatives.
The initiative, promoted by Barcelona City Council, will allow Can Deu to stay open until 23:00 on Thursdays and until 24:00 on Fridays and Saturdays. The aim is to diversify the night-time offering and decentralise leisure, traditionally concentrated in commercial areas, by bringing cultural and social activities closer to neighbourhoods.
During this period, the centre will host workshops, talks, shows, book presentations, concerts and monologues, as well as social engagement proposals and wellbeing activities. The project forms part of the municipal plan “Initiatives for the comprehensive management of the night 2025–2027”, which seeks a more inclusive, healthy night-time environment compatible with residents’ rest.
The council and the Les Corts district stress that the extension of opening hours and activities responds to the need to offer safe and diverse spaces, especially for young people, but also for other groups. They also highlight Can Deu’s role as a climate and cultural refuge, particularly relevant in the face of increasingly frequent heat episodes.
The new tender establishes that Centre Cívic Can Deu will be open Monday to Wednesday from 9:00 to 22:00, Thursdays from 9:00 to 23:00, Fridays and Saturdays from 9:00 to 00:00, and Sundays and local-interest public holidays from 9:00 to 14:00. The café bar will follow the same hours, extending until 15:00 on Sundays. The centre will remain open whenever activities are scheduled, and the bar’s closing times will coincide with those of the facility.
With this commitment, Barcelona takes another step towards a more participatory, safe night-time leisure model adapted to the needs of its neighbourhoods, strengthening the local cultural fabric and offering new opportunities to both artists and residents.
