Almost 11,000 people took part in Madrid’s Christmas race
Almost 11,000 Papás y Mamás Noel took to the streets of Madrid to open the festive season with a race.
Madrid hosted one of the most striking winter races: almost 11,000 Santas ran through the city's streets. The participants, dressed in red suits, turned the centre of the capital into a moving Christmas card.
The race, 4.5 kilometres long, began on Paseo de Recoletos and marked the symbolic start of the New Year celebrations. Despite the rain, interest in the event was record-breaking: more runners took part than ever before.
The event combined sport, family leisure and solidarity: part of the fees went to support families with young children.
