CAT, Barça’s plush toy, arrives in shops: how to buy the limited edition of 5,000 units for €34.99

FC Barcelona has found a new object of desire for its supporters, and this time it is neither a shirt nor a signing, but a plush toy.

CAT, the club’s official mascot for its 125th anniversary, is now on sale and threatens to become this Christmas’s star gift. The first batch, limited to 5,000 units, comes at a single price (€34.99) and with the feeling that anyone who does not hurry will miss out.

The official debut took place on Thursday at Museo Inmersivo del Barça, where the club showed the final design of the toy for the first time. The anticipation was confirmed within minutes: members, who had access to an exclusive pre-sale that same day, sold out all available stock in barely twenty minutes. A figure that anticipates a commercial phenomenon of great scale and has sparked interest among the rest of the fans.

From Friday 5 December, CAT can be bought both in Barça’s physical shops and on the online sales platform. The club insists that there will be no alternative versions or different sizes, and that production has been conceived as a collector’s item: same aesthetic, same price, sold while stocks last.

The plush toy is not an improvised product. CAT represents a wildcat, a native Catalan species, and was designed by Grangel Studio, creators with a track record in Hollywood and responsible for character design in films such as How to Train Your Dragon and Hotel Transylvania. Its face reproduces the outline of the club crest and its character is intended to embody the values with which the organisation wants to identify: ambition, respect, creativity and roots.

For Barça, CAT is not only a Christmas souvenir, but a strategic bet to connect with new generations and open up new business avenues. For fans, it will probably be a challenge to obtain before it disappears from the shelves.
