Catalonia sets the 2025–26 school calendar: classes from 8 September and holidays already fixed

Catalonia sets the dates for the next school year and defines the rhythm of an academic year that will officially begin on 8 September 2025 for nursery, primary, ESO and basic vocational training levels. The rest of the courses — from baccalaureate to official language schools — will join in stages throughout that month.

The Christmas holidays will run from 20 December to 7 January, while Easter will be held between 28 March and 6 April. The school year will end on 19 June for most students, although some courses, such as those for 0–3-year-olds, will continue until the last working day of the month.

The calendar also provides for extraordinary assessment days, tailored to each educational stage, and four discretionary days which schools must distribute among the three terms, without coinciding with public holidays or the beginnings or ends of teaching periods.

Beyond the dates, the Departament d’Educació is committed to an organisation that combines structure and flexibility, allowing schools to adapt their calendars to their realities and needs. A new school year that is already beginning to take shape in Catalonia's school diaries.
