Catalonia, the autonomous community with the most Michelin stars at the gala held in Málaga

The night in Málaga had a clear winner: Catalonia.

In a ceremony marked by new developments and an effervescent atmosphere, the community emerged strengthened with six new additions to the prestigious guide: two restaurants receiving their first star —Kamikaze and Scapar— and four rising to the two-star category —Aleia, Enigma, Mont Bar and La Boscana—. With these awards, Catalonia reaches 81 stars spread across 62 restaurants, most of them in Barcelona, once again reaffirming its gastronomic leadership.

One of the most applauded moments was Albert Adrià’s rise, as he finally saw confirmed the rumour that had been following him for years: his restaurant has obtained its second star. A decisive step towards the summit of the guide, especially in a year with no new three-star restaurants anywhere in the country, but also no losses in Catalonia, which keeps its culinary firmament intact.

The five Catalan temples that already held three stars —ABaC, Cocina Hermanos Torres, Disfrutar, El Celler de Can Roca and Lasarte— remain in the gastronomic firmament. They are joined by the nine restaurants with two stars and an extensive constellation of one-star venues, consolidating a culinary map as diverse as it is innovative.

The gala, presented by Jesús Vázquez, not only crowned kitchens: it also rewarded sommeliers and young talents in a particularly brilliant year for Catalonia. Catalan cuisine is experiencing a moment of creative maturity, in which technique, tradition and the avant-garde coexist naturally. And the Michelin Guide 2026 makes it clear: the country’s gastronomic epicentre, as things stand today, remains north of the Ebro.
