Catalonia turns blue: summer 2025 begins with 101 award-winning beaches and 23 ports
In 2025, the Catalan coast shines not only for its beauty, but also for its commitment to the planet.
A total of 101 beaches — six more than last year — and 23 marinas have been awarded the Blue Flag, the international label that endorses exemplary management of the coastal environment.
From the turquoise coves of the Costa Brava to the peaceful sandy shores of the Ebre, Catalonia has managed to paint its coast blue thanks to a balance between sustainability, water quality, optimal services and safety. Girona leads the ranking, followed by Barcelona, Penedès, Tarragona and Terres de l’Ebre.
But it is not only about figures. This recognition, awarded by the FEE and managed in Spain by ADEAC, is a promise fulfilled: that of offering bathing spaces that respect both visitors and the environment. Every flag that flies is a story of effort, monitoring, public investment and love for the territory.
Catalonia does not only invite people to plunge into its waters; it invites them to do so consciously. Because on its beaches, blue is not only the colour of the sea; it is also a commitment.
