Centelles turns into a village of witches with unique magic and rituals

Centelles is preparing to experience one of the most distinctive weekends of the year: Cau de Bruixes. On 31 January and 1 February, this municipality becomes the epicentre of magic, esotericism and tradition, with activities designed for all audiences.

During the festival, the streets fill with shows, themed routes, live music and family workshops. The magic market offers esoteric products, gastronomic delights and herbs, attracting the curious and lovers of the occult.

The organisers encourage residents and visitors to dress up as witches and wizards to immerse themselves in the atmosphere. Among the most eagerly awaited moments are the coven, the witches’ dance and tarot readings. Street theatre performances revive legends of women persecuted for their wisdom.

One of the central acts is the proclamation of the Witch of the Year, recognition of a local woman for her cultural, social or associative contribution, which has become a symbol of the festival.

The full programme is available on the Ayuntamiento de Centelles website. To get there from Barcelona, the quickest option is by car, with a journey of around 45 minutes. There are also direct trains and buses from Fabra i Puig, although they require a change.
