Free dip in Madrid: municipal pools open on 15 May for San Isidro

This year, summer in Madrid is starting early. On 15 May, San Isidro's day, Madrid's municipal swimming pools will open their doors with a day of free admission for everyone. It will mark the start of a season that promises relief from the heat and outdoor leisure spaces for thousands of residents. The City Council has confirmed that there will be no admission charge on this first day and that the usual access sessions will remain in place: morning (10:00 to 15:00), afternoon (16:00 to 21:00) and full day (10:00 to 21:00). Tickets will once again be purchased and validated using dynamic QR codes, a measure that speeds up the flow of users and allows places to be freed up when someone leaves the premises. From 16 May, the usual prices will apply: 4.50 euros for adults, 3.60 for young people (aged 15 to 26), 2.70 for children (aged 5 to 14) and 1.35 for those over 65. Children under five will continue to be admitted free of charge. However, not all the pools will be available from the first day. Some facilities — such as Luis Aragonés, Moscardó, Peñuelas, Vicente del Bosque and Orcasitas — will delay reopening because of improvement works, although they are expected to be operational before the end of June. Meanwhile, those who do not want to wait can get their swimwear ready: Madrid is ready to dive into summer, even though there is still more than a month to go before the heat really kicks in.
