Cibeles de Cine transforms Madrid's summer with Spanish cinema and premieres
Madrid will once again have one of its most recognisable summer events. Cibeles de Cine returns from 25 June to 8 September to the Galería de Cristal at CentroCentro, in the Palacio de Cibeles, with more than 70 films and a programme designed to turn hot nights into a cultural plan in the heart of the city.
The 2026 edition arrives with a special tribute to Spanish cinema. The film opening the cycle will be Volver, by Pedro Almodóvar, coinciding with the twentieth anniversary of its release. The official poster, designed by Beatriz Ramo, Naranjalidad, also looks to that film and the visual imagination created by Juan Gatti.
The programme will mix recent Spanish cinema, classics, cult films, international premieres, family cinema and auteur titles. National productions include Los domingos, the great winner at the Goya 2026, La cena, Aída y vuelta, Yo no moriré de amor, Maspalomas, Amarga Navidad, Flores para Antonio and El ser querido, presented after its run at Cannes.
There will also be room for major premieres and highly anticipated films, such as El diablo viste de Prada 2, Proyecto salvación, Cumbres borrascosas, Michael and Marty Supreme. They will be joined by titles recognised at festivals and during awards season, from Hamnet to Bugonia, Valor sentimental and Una batalla tras otra.
Cibeles de Cine’s appeal is not only on the screen. The venue will open every day at 20:00, two hours before screenings, with a food area, activities and an aerial exhibition entitled Un país de puro cine, dedicated to key figures in Spanish cinema through photographic portraits.
The films will be shown at 22:00, with 650 seats, a high-definition screen and wireless headphones. Most sessions will be in the original version with Spanish subtitles, although Saturdays are usually reserved for dubbed, more family-oriented proposals.
The cycle arrives after bringing together more than 45,000 spectators in 2025, a figure that explains why it has become one of the most popular plans of the Madrid summer. It is not merely going to the cinema: it is entering Palacio de Cibeles, sitting beneath Galería de Cristal and turning a hot night into a different experience.
Cibeles de Cine works as one of those plans that bring the centre to life when many residents seek options after sunset. Between Spanish cinema, major premieres and classics one feels like seeing again, the city recovers a cultural refuge for long summer nights.
