26 homes affected by an unauthorised illegal-rental network in Barcelona
An investigation in Barcelona has uncovered a scheme that rented tourist flats without their owners' permission. The Public Prosecutor's Office accuses five people of managing at least 26 homes through this system, generating financial losses and legal problems for the owners.
The method was simple: they rented the flats as tenants, but instead of living in them, they turned them into tourist accommodation. They then advertised them on online platforms and social media to maximise income.
