Cinemes Verdi, one of the most emblematic cultural spaces in the Gràcia neighbourhood, is preparing to celebrate its centenary in 2026 with a major expansion. The historic Barcelona cinema will add two new screens, increasing its total capacity from 1,550 to 1,750 seats.
Works will begin in February and are expected to finish in October next year. The renovation comes at a key moment for Verdi, known for its arthouse programme and for showing films in their original subtitled version, which has made it a benchmark for lovers of independent cinema.
