Overnight closures on the Ronda de Dalt due to road-covering works

The works will be carried out at night to take advantage of lower summer traffic intensity and reduce the impact on daily mobility. The intervention will make it possible to install the large slabs that will serve as the base for the future covering of the ring road.

Because of the size of these pieces and the machinery required, the operation cannot be carried out with the usual rush-hour traffic. The aim is to keep the infrastructure open during the day and concentrate the effects in the night-time period.

The changes will not end there. Between 3 and 24 August, one right-hand lane in each direction will disappear, a restriction necessary to continue installing the final roof over the infrastructure.

Drivers who regularly use this section should allow more travel time and follow the temporary signage installed during the works. Diversions will be enabled via the lateral roads to maintain connections between the different neighbourhoods.

The intervention forms part of a project intended to cover one of the points where the Ronda de Dalt acts as a barrier between residential areas. The new platform will make it possible to recover space for public use once the works are complete.

In total, around 340 metres of surface area will be gained for green zones and spaces for spending time, of which around 200 are already complete. Construction of the covering will continue until 2027, and the final urban development is planned for 2028.

The inconvenience will be temporary, but the change will be permanent. Where thousands of vehicles travel every day today, the project envisages a new space for walking, resting and connecting neighbourhoods that have remained separated for decades by one of Barcelona's main fast roads.
