The Cercanías C-5 closes a key section for works during the summer

During this period, trains will run every ten minutes between Humanes and Villaverde Alto, as well as between Móstoles El Soto and Embajadores. The aim is to maintain most of the service while work is carried out on the central section.

To connect the affected stations, Renfe will introduce shuttle trains between Villaverde Alto and Méndez Álvaro, stopping at Puente Alcocer, Orcasitas and Doce de Octubre. These services will run at an approximate frequency of 35 minutes, so waiting times will be longer than usual.

The changes come after several weeks marked by incidents on the network. In recent days, faults also affected the C-3 and C-4 lines, although service has now returned to normal after the infrastructure was repaired.

The schedule of works will continue during August. Between the 1st and 28th, new works will be carried out that will alter the frequencies of the C-2, C-7, C-8A, C-8B and C-10 lines. In addition, on the weekends of 29 and 30 August and 5 and 6 September, the Sol tunnel between Atocha and Nuevos Ministerios will remain closed, which will require the service on the C-3 and C-4 lines to be reorganised.

Renfe will provide information on all changes through station announcements, information panels, customer-service staff and its usual communication channels to make travel easier during the works.

These works have been scheduled in the summer months, when passenger numbers fall, in order to reduce the impact on daily mobility. Even so, thousands of users will have to adapt their routes and allow more time to plan their journeys while the works last.
