The A-6 faces new closures between Las Rozas and Collado Villalba
Maintenance works on the A-6 will complicate travel through Galapagar, Collado Villalba and Las Rozas during August. The intervention will begin this Monday and continue until the 21st, with full closures, alternating traffic and restrictions on several service roads.
The work will focus on waterproofing three overpasses. Two are around kilometre 36, within the municipality of Galapagar, and the third is located at kilometre point 37.4, near Collado Villalba.
The schedule includes total closures of these overpasses on 3 August and from the 17th to the 21st. On those days, drivers will have to use the signposted alternative routes to cross from one side of the motorway to the other.
Between 4 and 16 August, traffic will be reduced to a single lane at the affected overpasses. One direction will remain open and traffic will be organised alternately, which may cause waits at the busiest times.
The action will also reach Las Rozas, where the surface of the service roads between kilometres 19 and 21 in both directions will be rehabilitated. This work will cause alternating closures during the second half of the month.
The Ministerio de Transportes has allocated nearly 198,000 euros to the intervention. The works seek to improve the waterproofing of the structures and repair the pavement of sections used daily by those who live or work in the north-west of the region.
The plan may change depending on the weather or the needs of the works. Before setting out, it will be advisable to check traffic conditions, follow the temporary signage and reduce speed when approaching the work zones.
The impact will be felt especially on local journeys between housing developments, industrial estates and municipalities close to the A-6. For almost three weeks, travelling through Galapagar, Collado Villalba and Las Rozas will require more attention and some extra time to deal with possible traffic jams.
