Chaos on the L2: Barcelona wakes to closures between Clot and Sant Martí and route changes
Barcelona began the day with problems on one of its most-used metro lines. A technical incident on Barcelona Metro's L2 has forced service between Clot and Sant Martí to be suspended since early morning, disrupting the usual journeys of thousands of users.
The disruption affects four key stations: Estació de Clot, Encants, Bac de Roda and Sant Martí. The line is operating only between Paral·lel and Sagrada Família, and between La Pau and Badalona Pompeu Fabra.
The incident comes at one of the busiest times of day and particularly complicates connections between Eixample and Sant Martí. Many passengers have had to reorganise journeys on the fly to get to work, university or connections with other lines.
TMB recommends using buses 33 and H10 as temporary alternatives while technicians work to restore normal service on the affected section.
The interruption once again highlights the pressure on the transport network during the early morning hours. A closure on a central line such as the L2 has an immediate impact on mobility in different neighbourhoods and quickly causes overcrowding both at surface level and on other metro connections.
The L2 has become one of the most strategic lines for travelling between central Barcelona and the north-east of the city. That is why any incident in this corridor directly changes the city's everyday rhythm.
